Daylily in the Afternoon

While visiting a daylily farm in the foothills, I was drawn to the lighting of this gorgeous daylily. The sun was just touching parts of the flower and glowing through the petals and I knew this was the look I wanted for this flower. With camera in hand, I took several shots and went back to my studio to start an oil painting of this beauty. What is so special about this painting is that when it is reproduced, it has the quality of a watercolor. It reproduces well on canvas and on art paper.
This won a 1st place in a national art exhibition.
